Verhaeghe Brewery is a family-owned Belgian brewery located in Vichte, West Flanders. The brewery was founded in 1885 by Paul Verhaeghe and continues to be run by the 4th generation of Verhaeghes today. Despite multiple setbacks wrought by the world wars, Verhaeghe managed to pick up the pieces and re-establish itself on the market. Verhaeghe Brewery’s greatest success is the Duchesse de Bourgogne - a Flemish Red Ale that was named in honour of Duchess Mary of Burgundy, the only daughter of Charles the Bold. Today, the brewery continues to thrive in spite of Karl’s horrific traffic accident as well as the declining demand for Flemish Red-Brown ales.
