let's tap into their story!

For nearly two centuries, Young's Brewery has been producing some of the finest beers in the United Kingdom. In 1831, Charles Allen Young and Anthony Fothergill Bainbridge started a brewery and pub company.
One of the key factors in Young's success was the acquisition of the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, London in 1833. This became the home of the brewery, and over the next century, it expanded to become one of the largest breweries in London. With the Ram brewery and 5 pubs under its belt, Young became one of London’s most successful pub groups.
In the 1870s, records show that Young’s had a fleet of 27 dray horses, the majority of which were black Shires, which were used to deliver the beer to its pubs back then. Although Young’s no longer made horse drawn deliveries, its horses are still kept at the Ram Brewery till today and they continue to parade the bustling streets of London during special occasions!
In the 1890s, Young’s registered a Dorset Horn ram as its emblem and its beers became known as the Ram brand. As demand for its bottled beers grew in the 1900s, Young’s set up its first bottling plant at the brewery.

In 2006, Young's merged with Charles Wells Brewery to form a new company called Wells & Young's Brewing Company. The merger brought together two of the most respected breweries in the United Kingdom, and the new company continued to produce high-quality beers that were enjoyed by beer drinkers across the country.

Young’s Special and other brews

In the 1940s, Young's introduced a new beer called Special, which quickly became popular with drinkers. Young’s Special is a full-flavoured amber beer that has toasted nutty malt, stewed apple and pear notes balanced by earthy hops. Young’s also has the perfect brew for chocolate lovers - the Double Chocolate Stout. The indulgent stout is brewed using rich, dark chocolate, and the added smoothness of oats results in pure luxury in a glass.

Young’s Brewery

Charles Wells Brewery is known today as the Eagle Brewery, and although it has been sold to the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company, it continues to brew Young's beloved beers with pride. This makes the brand one of the most respected and admired breweries in the United Kingdom. Its rich history, commitment to quality, and innovative spirit ensure that it will continue to produce exceptional beers for many years to come!
