Ho ho ho, my jolly friends! 'Tis the season to indulge in the festive cheer, and I, the St. Bernardus Christmas Release, stand ready to ignite your holiday spirits! Brewed with love and joy once a year, I am a magnificent Belgian Winter Ale with an ABV of 10%.
Embrace the darkness of my intense pour, crowned with a creamy-colored frothy head, as I enchant your senses with a symphony of flavors. Prepare yourself for a merry medley of minty zest, aniseed spice, creamy caramel, fire-roasted chestnuts, fermented molasses, fruity apricots, rich liquorice, and sweet marzipan. Each sip reveals a new layer of delight, a reminder that the holidays are a time for indulgence and celebration. With the unique house yeast that has blessed all St. Bernardus brews since 1946, I bring warmth and joy to your palate, creating cherished memories with every sip.
Gather 'round, dear friends, and let us revel in the spirit of Christmas!

The history of St. Bernardus, a former Trappist brewery, can be traced back to the early 1900s, when the Trappists fled to Watou, Belgium and started making cheese as a source of income. In 1930, the abbey was taken over by Evariste Deconinck, who later reached a 30-year agreement with a neighbouring abbey - the Sint-Sixtus Westvleteren - to brew and market his Trappist beers under licence. It was only in 1992 that the brewery started producing its beers under the St. Bernardus label that we know today, which features the iconic smiling monk holding a glass. Throughout its history, the brewery has been producing authentic and high-quality Belgian beers that are highly-respected by beer lovers and have gone on to win multiple awards over the years!
