CBCo Brewing Co., formerly known as Colonial Brewing Co., is a leading Australian craft brewery with roots dating back to 2004. Founded by serial entrepreneur Ross Smith, the brewery quickly established itself in the competitive Australian market. Despite facing early challenges and changes in ownership, such as being bought and sold again by Empire Beer Group, CBCo Brewing Co. demonstrated remarkable resilience. The company emerged from these setbacks with a renewed focus on quality and innovation, setting the stage for future growth. Under the leadership of Chris Morris, the brewery experienced a period of significant expansion, with sales increasing at a double-digit rate in the years leading up to 2019.

New Name, New Beginning

Despite its overwhelming success, CBCo Brewing Co. faced a major controversy related to its original name, "Colonial." While the founder had no malicious intent, the name was deemed problematic due to its association with Australia's colonial history.

Recognizing the historical implications, CBCo Brewing Co. made a proactive decision to rebrand as CBCo Brewing. This change reflected the company's commitment to inclusivity and respect for all Australians. The brewery remains deeply connected to its roots in Margaret River, drawing inspiration from the region's natural beauty and passionate community.
