Brewlander & Co., a Singaporean brewing sensation, was founded in 2017 by John Wei, a passionate homebrewer known as "Brewlander" on brewing forums. After years of honing his craft in his HDB flat, John's dedication and talent earned him recognition in local homebrewing competitions and media attention. In 2020, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, John and his team took a bold step to establish a fully automated brewery. Today, Brewlander stands as one of Singapore's largest independent craft breweries, making waves in the global beer scene. The brewery has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Singaporean brewery to win a globally recognized award, clinching a gold medal at the prestigious World Beer Awards.

John Wei, a passionate homebrewer known online as "Brewlander," started his brewing journey in the most humble of settings: his HDB flat. Fueled by a relentless pursuit of flavor and a desire to push the boundaries of homebrewing, he spent countless hours experimenting with different ingredients and techniques.

The Gypsy Brewer

To share his passion with a wider audience, John embraced the gypsy brewing model, which enabled him to scale up production from the modest pots and kettles in his HDB kitchen. Partnering with local breweries, he used their facilities to produce small batches of his unique beer recipes. This approach not only allowed him to gain valuable brewing experience and deepen his understanding of a brewery's setup, but it also helped him build a loyal following and establish a reputation for his distinctive creations.

Building a Brewery Amidst a Pandemic

In 2016, John took a bold step, quitting his corporate job to dedicate himself full-time to his brewing passion. His vision was to challenge the status quo of Asia's beer scene and introduce Singaporean craft beer to the world stage. With unwavering determination, he transformed his hobby into a thriving business.

In 2020, Brewlander took a significant leap forward by building a fully automated brewery during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Overcoming numerous challenges, including supply chain disruptions and logistical hurdles, the team successfully brought their vision to life.

Crafting Brewlander's Unique Identity

Brewlander's commitment to quality is evident in every step of the brewing process. The brewery sources the finest ingredients from around the world, including specialty malts, hops, and yeast strains. Their state-of-the-art brewery allows them to experiment with a wide range of styles, from classic lagers to innovative IPAs.

One of their most celebrated beers, the Love Wild IPA, is a testament to their brewing prowess. This bold and flavorful brew is crafted with a unique blend of New World hops and a wild yeast strain, resulting in a complex and aromatic beer with notes of tropical fruit and citrus.

Fostering a Vibrant Beer Community

Beyond brewing exceptional beers, Brewlander is deeply committed to fostering a vibrant beer community. They host the annual Brewnanza Fest, a celebration of craft beer featuring local and international breweries, live music, and delicious food.
